BEAD and the RLEC
Now that the federal money available for new broadband deployment has been announced, the time is ripe to focus on what elements should be considered within the “tool kit” to determine how these programs fit within an RLEC’s network deployment programs and operations. The presenters have collectively over 125 years of experience in addressing challenges to the rural telecommunications industry and the type of analytics that can be undertaken to assist small rural operators in making informed decision as to what options regarding the pursuit of federal broadband monies.
This half-day seminar will address the practical review and discussion of the BEAD program and expected FCC action on extending ACAM and impacts on Legacy programs (such as CAF-BLS). In addition, we will discuss proposed FCC changes regarding, by default, an RLEC’s increased transport responsibility/costs of 911 calls in the developing NG911 environment. And, finally, proposed changes in the way the FCC approves international services, and reviews foreign ownership issues in the context of acquisitions/transfer of controls.
